Is There Word For Mac
Why is there no 'Controls' group in my Word for Mac 2016 'Developer' tab? I'm using trying to use Version 15.39 (170913) as a member of Office Insider Fast. Entering 'controls' in the Search for the 'Word Preferences' shows no hits. Accessiblity checker word for mac. Only Code, Add-ins, and Legacy Controls appear under Developer in my All Tabs dialog for Ribbon & Toolbar Preferences. And the only controls available for Legacy Controls are Text Box, Check Box, Combo Box, Options, Insert Frame, Shading, and Protect Form. What I am after is a Date-picker like shows up in my Word 2010.
Thanks for any help, and God bless! If you're still using Insider Fast, then you should be up to version 16.8 by now. Although that version still does not have a Content Control section in the Developer ribbon, a simple test shows that it is possible to insert a Date Picker cc using VBA, e.g. Sub idatecc() Dim cc As Word.ContentControl Set cc = Selection.Range.ContentControls.Add(wdContentControlDate) Set cc = Nothing End Sub I haven't had time to get any further than that, but that may be enough for you to a. Create content controls b. Set up your own ribbon group to make it a bit easier. At least some of the objects for manipulating Custom XML parts now seem to be available from VBA too (ISTR they were not there in 16.6 or 16.7, so things appear to be moving along quite quickly).

AFAIK none of this stuff is available for either the current release version of Mac Word 2016 (15.39), and I do not suppose they will even be in Insider Slow until the current 'Fast' build becomes the mainstream platform. Content control insertion is not yet part of the builtin UI in Mac Word. (I am using 15.38 slow insider so I suppose it is possible they are supposed to be there in 15.29,but I have not heard anything about that.

While there are plenty of alternatives to choose from nowadays – Byword and iA Writer are both excellent – WriteRoom still holds its own as a simple, minimalist word processor.
So only the legacy controls are there (because the ActiveX ones have never been available on Mac) The existing content controls function to one degree or another, but the object model interfaces needed to interact programmatically with content controls, control events, custom XML parts, and server properties (metaproperties) are not there yet either as far as I know.
